Blueberries - $1.32/lbs
Delicious and nutritious - blueberries are truly one of nature's miracle foods. These berries are high in antioxidants and other compounds that help prevent heart disease and cancer, help brain and memory functions, and slow the effects of aging. When it comes to fruits containing antioxidants, blueberries are the "leader of the pack". The type of antioxidants found in blueberries have a different chemical structure compared with other common antioxidants such as Vitamin C that makes them three to four times more potent. At Hazen's Blueberry Farm we offer only the highest quality of blueberrries - varieties include:
Bluecrop - considered the best all around variety for adaptability, consistent yields, high quality fruit and disease resistance. Bluecrop is perhaps the most widely planted variety in the U.S.
Blueray - an old favorite and versatile variety, Blueray performs particularly well in areas with hot summers or very cold winters, and produces high quality berries with outstanding dessert flavor.
Jersey - one of the oldest and most widely grown of all varieties, Jersey is a favorite for farmers wanting a bush that produces heavy late season crops year after year. This bush tolerates a wide range of soil types, and the small to medium sized, sweet tasting fruit is a favorite for baking.
Raspberries - $2.80/lbs
A summer favorite, raspberries rank as the third most popular berry in the United States for fresh use, after strawberries and blueberries. Raspberries come in red, black, purple and yellow varieties. Summer-bearing varieties produce one crop between July and August. Fall-bearing raspberries grow a large crop in the fall and a small crop the following summer. Raspberries grown on the farm include:
Red Raspberries - Heritage: the “flagship” of all fall bearing red raspberries is consistently rated highest in productivity, flavor & firmness. The berry is medium to large in size, slightly cone shaped, brilliant red, very firm with an excellent deep flavor. Autumn Bliss: it's most productive month is September. The berry is medium in size, mid to dark red with a pleasant flavour and good keeping qualities.
Black Raspberries - Jewel: Vigorous, consistantly productive, resistant to disease and widely adapted. Black raspberries ripen in early July. The berries are superior in quality, large, firm with glossy skin and have a rich flavor.
Plums - $1.68/lbs
If you love this fruit, you'll truly enjoy our selection of Stanley plums. This plum is oval, with a deep purple skin and a golden flesh. It is great fresh picked, but is equally tasty when dried or canned. Vibrant and delicious, these small fruits are prized for jams and jellies. An asset in the landscape, the trees bloom in sprays of fragrant white flowers in the spring, attracting birds, bees and butterflies. The fruit ripens in late August to early September.
We offer pre-picked plums only. Please note that the ripening dates can change and the size of the crop can sometimes be small. We recommend you telephone us to ensure availability.
Peaches $ .96/lbs
The sweet juicy flavor of Michigan home-grown peaches as no equal. At Hazen's Farm o
ur peaches are hand picked at the peak of flavor when the fruit is perfectly ripe. The varieties we sell for canning and freezing are Freestone, which means that the pit can be removed easily. These delicious golden peaches are juicy, nutritious snacks eaten fresh from the farm or served in endless recipe combinations such as appetizers, salads, garnishes, sauces, entrees, and desserts.
To insure quality when buying peaches, select fruit that is free of bruises and decay. A background that is creamy yellow in color indicates maturity. The redness or blush will vary depending on the variety and is not a good indication of ripeness. Select peaches that are firm but give a little when squeezed gently.
We offer pre-picked peaches only. Please note that the ripening dates can change and the size of the crop can sometimes be small. We recommend you telephone us to ensure availability.
